Easiest homebuilding process ever

About 2 years ago, Pat and Clyde Craigen were searching for a new home in Bryan/College Station. At the time, the Craigens were living in Alabama but were ready to move back to Texas to be closer to family.

“We looked at both resale and new homes in Bryan/College Station,” Pat explains. “We really liked the construction and quality of a home we saw in Creek Meadows, which happened to be built by RNL Homes.”  The floor plan of that College Station home for sale didn’t exactly meet the Craigens’ needs, so they decided to look at homes being built by RNL Homes in Bryan. “We took one look at the homes RNL was building in Greenbrier, and that’s all it took,” says Pat.

Outstanding communication throughout the process

The Craigens were quite familiar with the home building process, having built 9 homes during the course of their 50+ years of marriage. But building their new home in Bryan was unique because the couple was living 850 miles away while the home was under construction.

Even with the long distance between the Craigens and RNL Homes, Clyde says, “This home was the easiest of the nine we’ve built. The communication was unbelievable.”

RNL Homes sent the Craigens photos of their home as it was being built, and gave them a thumb drive with photos and details as well. “RNL finished our home ahead of schedule, and we were able to close on our new home while we were still in Alabama,” Clyde adds.

Flexibility and customer service

The Craigens returned to Bryan once during the five-month construction process, setting aside two days to choose all the finishes and features for their new home. “We didn’t want to have to make another trip,” Pat says, “and RNL Homes was amazing. Nora devoted all her time to us. She made excellent suggestions and recommendations, and was more than accommodating if we wanted to make a change.  For example, we decided we wanted to move the fireplace in the floor plan we chose to a different location, and RNL did that for us.”

“We’ve lived in our new home in Bryan for about 18 months and we still love it,” says Pat. “Our home is the best. Anytime we have friends over, they make comments about how much they love our house, too.”

Clyde appreciates all the energy efficient features in his new Bryan home. “Our electricity bills are about $100 to $150 less per month than when we lived in Austin,” he says. “Our water bill is much lower, too.”

Both Pat and Clyde love living in Bryan’s Greenbrier. “Greenbrier is so friendly,” Pat says. “Many of the people who live here came to be close to family, just like us. Everyone is so friendly.” The Craigens also appreciate being so close to everything they want and need, such as shopping and church.
